Hertsmere Borough Council Careers
Working with you, for you, improving our communities, our places.
Our vacanciesWelcome
Hertsmere is a welcoming borough with lots to offer our diverse communities. Our population is growing with a consequent demand for increased housing and improvements to infrastructure such as health, education and transport. We are responding to these demands by trying to maintain the balance of Hertsmere as a green and pleasant place to live while planning for the future.
We own Elstree Film Studios and see the TV and film production industry as central to Hertsmere’s character and economic development. We work in partnership with key stakeholders such as Hertfordshire Constabulary, the NHS, Hertfordshire County Council and other public sector organisations, as well as residents and businesses to maintain and improve the quality of services provided and take strategic planning forward. In addition, we’ve established a local development arms-length company (Hertsmere Living), to take forward the development of council- owned land, buildings and acquisitions as appropriate.
If you believe you have the necessary skills to contribute to our vision, then I encourage you to apply for any relevant vacancies on the ‘Jobs’ tab above. Thank you for your interest in developing your career at Hertsmere Borough Council.

Read MoreAbout Hertsmere
Hertsmere is a small, but vibrant and attractive borough within Hertfordshire. The majority of our 107,000 residents live in five main communities - Borehamwood and Elstree, Bushey, Potters Bar, Radlett and Shenley. There are also several smaller villages and hamlets including South Mimms, Ridge, Aldenham and Letchmore Heath.
Hertsmere is approximately 38 square miles. The area enjoys good rail and road links with London and other major cities, offering a great balance of city and countryside. As well as vibrant towns and beautiful open spaces, we are home to many award-winning parks, modern leisure centres and communities who care about the areas in which they live.
Known for its thriving film and television production industry, Hertsmere is also home to some major businesses and employers within the professional, scientific, technical, construction, and ICT industries. Our heritage of film and television production dates back to the early 20th century as well as a budding avionics specialism developing at London Elstree Aerodrome. Small businesses also make up an important part of the local economy, helping to make Hertsmere an exciting and ever-developing region.
